The Heritage is envisaged as a 'school with difference'. A school that will teach children to be global citizens while retaining their Indian roots and values. A 'fun' school where learning will be more computer-aided than chalk-oriented. A Day Boarding School, that will nurture the mind, body as well as spirit of the children so that they grow into caring and complete adults with a firm belief in truth and secularism.
It was nearly a decade ago, when a group of like-minded industrialists met to discuss ways and means of contributing towards a better Kolkata. The consensus was that the city of Kolkata needed an institution, where traditions of the ancient Gurukul system struck the right balance with state-of-the-art educational technology. This would be different from the prevalent system. The industrialists were unanimous in their view that the education system they wanted, would break free from the rigidity of access and restricted approach to learning, admissions and examinations. There would have to be an attempt to provide more autonomy in the teaching - learning process.
